October 2019 V11 I10

This is the "Stitch This" design in the October 2019 issue and was inspired by a television show I watched on the Smithsonian channel called “Mystic Britain” . The show was filming in a very old church and discussing some markings on a wall. They explained that some symbols which are, today, thought to be evil (such as the pentagram) were, in historic times, considered wards against evil. An intertwining design might capture a demon and keep it there - going round and round. A little sparkle in the middle might attract attention, also!

The changes in the layout of the community portion of The Stitchers’ Village have been a challenge in so many ways. When it first emerged as a community rather than just a forum, the platform being used was wonderful and we had a large number of active members. When the cost of hosting there became prohibitive, it took several attempts to get to where we are today - back to the core features of that first community. The popularity of other social media platforms has, also, drawn away a segment of our members who were frequent contributors to TSV. The variety of hardware and software configurations make it nearly impossible to give everyone the exact same experience online. I invite those who have been long time members to give the community another try and if you have not yet registered, please visit and give me your feedback on the site. Each member now has a profile page with photo albums and commenting. The old “no links” rules are gone and members may also create a page if they wish to sell or trade stash items or items they create. The only way to keep the Village going is for members to share there and keep it interesting. Join stitching friends in the best online needlework community!!

There is a first of its kind “Activity Page” this month. Look for the “Halloween 2019” page where the first item posted is a color challenge. This is the first installment of the new activity pages that will replace the previous web pages with clickable items. The various elements will be in posts throughout the event. “Halloween 2019” will be active throughout the month as drawings and complimentary charts will be offered at random times.

If you have suggestions on how to make the activity pages or the community more fun, please send me an email!! I love new ideas! Here is a thumbnail image of the Halloween 2019 color challenge. The pdf is available in the Village on the activity page!! There will be prizes!!
