Shore Excursions

On our cruise, we had seven sea days before arriving at the Canary Islands.  We have done transatlantic cruises, before, so we did not do many of the shore excursions.  We visited Santa Cruz de la Palma and took a UNESCO partner tour.  Bananas grow on the island and many of the homes had very charming gardens.  We also saw the natural wonder of Charco Azul and visited a rum distillery.  I have so many photos and will work on posting more in the future.

Something I would like to note about the garden picture above.  I am under the influence of the video game Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which I started playing in December.  If you are familiar with the game, you may notice a resemblance between the rock wall in the photo above and features in the game which are very recognizable as a place to use a remote bomb and find treasure behind the walls. This is the only photo I have as an example, but around the island there were random examples that more resembled the bomb walls in BOTW.  These rocks were used to fill or patch holes in the hillsides in a lot of places on the islands we visited.  I have not ever played a game that left such an impression on me that it was brought to mind so much in the real world.  Good thing I did not try to use my paraglide ability. . .
